THE HONEST GUIDE TO ARTHRITIS AND JOINT HEALTH FOR WOMEN
Early signs, hand arthritis, rheumatoid and osteoarthritis, joint-friendly exercise, food and the daily habits that protect your joints, from a NASM certified trainer who keeps it simple and honest.
Arthritis in women is more common than in men, and it often shows up earlier than people expect. Hormones, past injuries, body weight and how much you move all play a part, and many of those are things you can work with.
I'm a NASM certified trainer and corrective exercise specialist with more than 20 years in fitness, and sore hands, stiff knees and achy mornings are some of the things the women I coach ask me about most. The good news: the right kind of movement and a few daily habits make a real difference.
This guide brings it together: arthritis symptoms in women, what causes it, hand, finger and thumb arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis, safe exercise, an arthritis diet plan and pain relief you can do at home. Start with any card below.
Calculators and quizzes with straight answers.
Every guide answers the question you actually searched, with clear steps you can start today. When something is hype, like a miracle joint cure or a magic bracelet, I say so plainly.
I'm a trainer, not a doctor. If a joint is hot, red or swollen, you have fever with joint pain, sudden severe pain, several swollen joints at once, numbness or weakness, or morning stiffness that lasts more than an hour, see your doctor before you change anything else.
Motion is lotion. Gentle, regular movement keeps joints happier than rest alone.
Strong muscles take load off sore joints.

Hormones, especially the drop in estrogen around menopause, play a part, along with differences in joint structure, past injuries and body weight. Autoimmune types like rheumatoid arthritis are also more common in women.
For most people, yes. Gentle range-of-motion work, walking, water exercise and strength training usually ease stiffness and pain over time. Rest a joint that is hot or very swollen and check with your doctor first if you are unsure.
Food is not a cure, but an eating pattern built on vegetables, fruit, beans, fish, olive oil and whole grains supports overall health, and losing extra weight takes load off your knees and hips.
See one for a hot, red or swollen joint, fever with joint pain, sudden severe pain, several swollen joints at once, morning stiffness lasting more than an hour, numbness or weakness, or pain that keeps getting worse.
